What a pleasure it was to meet Mr Niranjan Gidwani ( Giddubhai to his friends ) yesterday…. an alumnus of the 1982 batch of SIBM Pune, Giddubhai flew in specially from Dubai, just to receive his award in our Annual Management Day…

Obviously he wanted to meet our dear Chancellor Dr Mujumdar Sir.. who has been such a towering influence in our lives.. and it was indeed a wonderful meeting with Mujumdar Sir and Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar Mam, along with Mr Johnson Verghese of the 1983 batch, and Ms. Sumita Mujumdar of the 1991 batch …..

I met Giddubhai after almost 40 years, though we had been in regular touch over WhatsApp and email over the years… but in 1 second, the 40 years melted away, and it was just like we were meeting after just a few days!! The same was the case with Mr Johnson and Ms Sumita, though of course we had indeed met more frequently 😀…. but with Mr Ranjit Jose, whom I met for the first time, it was just like old colleagues meeting !!

This is the bonding that SIBM Pune alums have with each other… and which is indeed a very unique feature of the Institute!! This was also apparent in the alumni meet in Delhi, when so many alums came up so warmly to meet,though it was for the 1st time !! I look forward to strengthening this connect in the coming days with all our alums!!
