Since 2015-2016, SIBM Pune had been offering “Analytics” focused courses as a part of the core curriculum. As marketing and supply chains got disrupted, industry has started demanding specialist Data Analytics skills from all MBAs .
SIBM Pune plans to offer “Data Analytics” as an additional specialization (this will be added to the current specialization options offered – Marketing, Finance, Ops and HR) from AY 2022.
The field of Data Analytics involves analysis of large data sets to identify trends, develop charts, and create visual presentations to help businesses make effective strategic decisions. This area differs from Data Science as it focuses on design and construction of new processes for data modelling and production using prototypes, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis.
If students opt to take Data Analytics as a specialization, they will be able to utilize data to draw meaningful insights and solve problems. They will be able to analyze well-defined sets of data using an arsenal of different tools to answer tangible business needs: e.g. why sales dropped in a certain quarter, why a marketing campaign fared better in certain regions, how internal attrition affects revenue, etc.
With this new specialization SIBM Pune will be able to fulfill the updated demands of the industry especially in the highly data driven post pandemic world & significantly enhance the value of its MBA program for prospective participants.
