Vikas Dimri is an alumnus of SIBM Pune (MBA-2000) and is currently working with Deutsche Bank AG, as Vice President & Business Head at Mumbai. But here’s why he deserves special mention – he is the first SIBM Pune alumnus attempting to summit Mt Everest and that for us is a matter of great pride! Competitive pressures, Hectic work hours and a busy schedule however haven’t stopped him from pursuing his dream of attempting to summit Mt. Everest.

Vikas’s story is ordinary like most of us and that is precisely the reason his story is inspiring. He’s like us but chooses to be different. Until a few years back, like most of us today, with little time for health and hobbies, Vikas lead a busy but unhealthy lifestyle. Things changed when a family member suffered a heart attack and that became the turning point that made Vikas to sit up and take a hard look at life.

He realised that while work was a big part of life, it wasn’t life itself. He had to become healthy and lead a more fulfilling life. He started to run marathons, take care of his diet and took to trekking and mountaineering in earnest. Over the past 2 years he has completed basic & advance courses in mountaineering, and summited a couple of peaks in India. He now wishes to test his limits, and take up the ultimate challenge in fitness – attempt to summit Mt. Everest in April- May 2017.

Mt. Everest & The Challenges

With 66% lesser oxygen, one-third the atmospheric pressure of sea level, wind speeds rivaling hurricane speeds going up to 200 mph and temperatures as low as -40 degrees centigrade, Mount Everest is one of the most inhospitable places on earth.

An expedition to Mt everest costs around 45 lacs or so. It requires good sound equipment, a good team and lots of preparation. Vikas is accepting only corporate sponsorships towards the expedition and a couple of large corporates have already sponsored part of the Everest expedition. We’re looking for potential sponsors and Vikas is willing to get into commercial arrangements.

We believe Vikas’s expedition attempt makes a great story of Dreams, Passion, Discipline, Planning & Execution, and can be leveraged by corporates for the following against sponsorships

– Digital marketing campaigns on social media

– Exclusive pictures and coverage as well as opportunity to carry your logo

– Employee engagement & motivation – talks/training post the summit experience

Vikas through his expedition is also spreading awareness and raising funds and material for Goonj & Mumbai Mobile Creches, two renowned NGOs. You can read more about this here –

It will be a great idea for corporate to explore brand fitment with their organisations and connect with Vikas at his email Vikas.dimri@outlook.com with possibilities of supporting this expedition.
