The SIBM Pune’s STUDENT President election 2016-17

The SIBM Pune’s STUDENT President election for the academic year 2016-17 was conducted on Friday, 24th February, 2016. The event saw stellar participation from the stakeholders i.e. the seniors and juniors from MBA and MBA (I&E). The auditorium was packed with students, as everyone knew the importance of electing the right person.

There were 3 contestants in race

    • Mr. Arth Dodeja – Marketing specialization, an Alumni Team member
    • Mr. Pratik Gupta – Marketing specialization, an SECC member
    • Mr. Varun Rao – Marketing specialization, a PAT member

All the candidates presented their manifesto to the students which was followed by a round of question-answers by the students as well as the Student Executive Council. All the candidates spoke about the changes that they wish to implement to make the SIBM, Pune experience even more wholesome. The students were really enthusiastic and the ambiance was exhilarating with overwhelming applause and cheering from the students.

After the Q&A the students moved towards the ballot boxes to exercise their right by voting for the candidate whom they deemed most worthy for the position of student president. The voting process was handled by the helpful administrative staff which made the process smooth and expeditious. The voting was immediately followed by counting in presence of the 3 contestants and the executive council members, as the students and the candidates waited in anticipation for the results.

Based on simple majority Mr. Varun Rao was elected as the President, Students’ Council, 2016-17 in a close and fierce competition from his opponents.

In a post-win speech he thanked the student body for their support and the responsibility that he had been endowed with.
