Highest number of PPOs in the History of SIBM, Pune!!
Gone are the days when SIBM Pune students had to wait till final placement season to secure a full-time job which had a best fit to their expectations. Increasingly, organizations are willing to recruit students through Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), based on their performance in summer internship and also through case study competitions, having lucrative cash prize and job offers.
SIBM Pune has the summer internship program, which is mandatory and a part and parcel of the program structure. The summer internship program is scheduled at the end of first year. During the summer internship students get a firsthand experience of real world management challenges across verticals. The organizations get an opportunity to observe the student’s performance over a period of two months, when a holistic assessment of the candidates becomes possible.
Converting interns to full-time employees through Pre-Placement Offers has been in existence for some time. This year this methodology has been a blessing for SIBM, Pune and we have the highest number of PPOs in the History of SIBM Pune !!
As per statistics available, the average number of PPO holders, as a proportion of batch size, is around 20-25 percent for Tier-I B Schools. At Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Pune (SIBM Pune) it is 32 percent of the batch, for academic Year (2015-17) and it has created a record as this is the highest in the history of SIBM, Pune !!.
PPOs are made based on the students’ summer internship performance, and across a variety of profiles including Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Consulting, Risk Analysis, Corporate Finance, and Supply Chain Management. Companies are also using inter-college corporate competitions in a bid to get the top talent into their folds. These competitions are open only to a select set of premier Indian Business Schools. Contests like Asian Paints’ “Canvas”, GE’s “Genius”, HUL’s “L.I.M.E.”, ITC’s “Interrobang”, J.P. Morgan’s “The Deal”, Mahindra’s “War Room”, Reckitt Benckiser’s “Maverick”, Tata Motors’ “Mindrover” are very popular amongst B School students.
These competitions not only help the organizations to solve some of their real-time management dilemmas, but also serve as a powerful branding and recruitment strategy adopted by corporate houses. The organizations generally reward the finalists and winners from the second and final year of MBA with a chance for Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) or PPO.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating!! SIBM Pune students have once again been the favorite when it comes to hiring by corporate !!
