Prof. Dr. Koen Vandenbempt from University of Antwerp Belgium at SIBM, Pune

Prof. Dr. Koen Vandenbempt is the Chairman Department of Management and Associate Dean for Interationalization University of Antwerp – Universiteit Antwerpe , Belgium. He visited SIBM, Pune on 25th September 2016 to interact with the faculty members and also had discussion with the Director – SIBM, Pune for possible collaborations. His visit was made possible due to to the efforts of that Prof.Prabir Bandyopadhyay from SIBM, Pune .

The University of Antwerp (Dutch: Universiteit Antwerpen) is one of the major Belgian universities located in the city of Antwerp. It is a public University and was Established in 1852. Antwerp Management School is the autonomous business school of the University of Antwerp, and was founded in 1959 as IPO (Instituut voor Postuniversitair Onderwijs), at that time the most prestigious school for management education. The institute had a major impact on the development of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium and beyond by delivering top managers in large companies and organizations.

The school has evolved to a business school that has carved out an important place for itself on the international stage, preparing future managers and leaders for key roles in the global business community and passionately promotes global citizenship, leadership and professionalism. Antwerp Management School and the Faculty of Applied Economics, both business entities at the University of Antwerp obtained the worldwide most renowned and prestigious accreditation of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for their management programs. This AACSB accreditation has been proudly held at Antwerp Management School since 2005 and was renewed in 2015.

Vandenbempt studied Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp, where he received his BS magna cum laude in 1991 and his MA in 1996. There in Antwerp he also received his PhD .Vandenbempt’s research interests focus on “innovation and business strategy in business-to-business markets and on the interrelationship between cognition and strategic action. After graduation Vandenbempt was appointed lecturer of Strategy and Management at University of Antwerp and at the Antwerp Management School. Since 2008 he is Professor of Strategy at the University and business school. At the Antwerp Management School he is also Academic Director EMBA since 2011. He has been Visiting Professor at the James Madison University in the USA, the IBS in Moscow and the Goa Institute of Management and Alliance University . In 2010 he was also appointed independent director at the Antwerp World Diamond Centre.
