SIBM Pune at Prithviโ€™17 – IIT Bombay

A contingent of 40 students from SIBM Pune, facilitated by the Sports Management Team, participated in the National level B-school sports fest, Prithviโ€™17, organised by SJMSOM atย IITย Bombay from 28thย to 29thย October โ€™17. Events participated in by the contingent were Basketball, Table Tennis, Carrom, Volleyball, Futsal, And 8 Ball Pool.

SIBM Pune reached the Table Tennis finals after a consistent tournament performance. The team comprising ofย Saisabin Sijapati, Dimpy Khirwar, Swapnil Deshpande, Akhil Deshpande, Paarth Sonawney, and Ayush Aroraย gave the opponents a run for their money but were unable to secure a victory. They were declared as the Runners Up in the tournament. The womenโ€™s basketball team put forth a highly spirited battle, with a fight to the last quarter and the scores equal, the team, however, was unable to score the winning basket. The menโ€™s basketball team had an extremely close match, with each side chasing the scoreline. The nail-biting game went to extra time, but SIBM Pune couldnโ€™t convert the game and lost by one basket.

After registering multiple victories over competing teams with their unmatched performance, the volleyball team made it to the semi-finals. In the carom tournament, the squad reached the quarter-finals in a match that was highly applauded by the crowds. The enthusiasm and sportsman spirit of both the teams were appreciated. The Futsal teamโ€™s performance kept the audiences captivated, as the 24 minutes play had everyoneโ€™s eyes chasing the ball throughout. Manas and Aroosh tackled the ball cleanly through the match while Vivek kept this defense steady throughout the tournament. The contingentโ€™s 8 ball pool performance was well practiced and calculated with Prithvi and Paarth taking some perfect skill shots. The team reached the semi-finals and was praised for their skills and performance.

Prithviโ€™17 ended on a positive and exciting note the teams depicting sportsmanship, resilience, teamwork, and enthusiasm. The members of the contingent are now training harder, with their added experience and lessons learnt.
