SIBM, Pune hosted a session with Prof. Martin Jones, Head – Accounting and Finance division, Nottingham Trent University, the United Kingdom, today as he took the crowd through his research presentation focusing on UK’s economy both in the past and present state . The topic for the session was based upon, “Governmental financial resilience under austerity in Austria, England and Italy: how do local governments cope with financial stock?”

Prof. Jones provided insights into the UK Deficit history and its impact on public debt, with the emphasis being upon the receipts and spending patterns within the economy. He provided a comparative analysis of the changes in the economy to highlight how global trends impacted the United Kingdom and steps that the government has been planning upon to overcome the underlying issues. He also spoke about the income and expense divide that is prevalent in the country, and compared it to other economies in the same region. He advised students to develop critical thinking as it would aid them to succeed in the changing economies.
