SIBM, Pune – An experience
My journey at SIBM, Pune started on 27th March 2015 when I received my provisional offer letter to study MBA-SIBM-Pune, a B school in Pune under the Symbiosis International University. That was a wonderful moment – knowing that I was one of the few lucky ones who cracked the SNAP and the following selection process. But the celebrations were quickly replaced by the confusion of which specialisation to take. It was worse than choosing my stream in 11th or even for my under graduation. I contacted many seniors and alumni of different specialisation from different B-schools across India regarding the scope and job opportunities of their field. This indeed was of great help.
In the blink of an eye it was time to shift to the hilltop – Lavale campus. Being away from family, in hostel and in a new place was quite hard initially but I am getting used to it.
Our 10-day induction was filled with loads of fun, learning and experience. On day one we witnessed a very inspiring speech by our very own director, Dr. R. Raman and by the chief guest Mr. Prakash Iyer. Introducing the faculty members and staff in a personal way, made us feel comfortable. The ice breaking session and the talent round was the most fun part of the induction. We had few team building activities. I was also given an opportunity to display my passion for dance and music through a performance. In the process, I also discovered the talents of many people around me. In a matter of few hours we practiced and presented a performance, which not only built our team spirit but also gave us confidence. The sessions by our alumni from different industries, aided us to understand the work profiles in each industry in depth – this also created a huge confusion in everyone’s mind, as all industries seemed to be of interest to most of us. The three-day outbound session was a day of Industrial visit and followed by few talks. The industrial visit was quite informative. We had visited Maxion Company where we learnt how the wheel rim was manufactured and how the import and export of the same took place. The lantern lighting session was a fail due to the weather but we still had fun, trying to light the lantern and make it fly high. The last and the most crucial part of the induction was the pre-induction test. After studying for about a month, the major of the study depended on the last few days of study as always.
In the midst of all this I also got an opportunity to volunteer for one of our speaker – Mr. Jitendra Paturkar, an alumni of SIBM. He truly inspired me and gave me great insight into the HR domain. Escorting him for the day was a good experience.
MBA in symbiosis is like a dream come true for me. SIBM has helped me make a lot of friends. Our seniors are also being very helpful. I am proud to say I am a part of Symbiosis International University – SIBM Pune, one of the best B school for MBA in India. I believe this institution will mold me into a better person. I am looking forward to more interesting days at SIBM, Pune.
