National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to rank all institutions of higher education in India.
This framework of NIRF outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover Teaching, Learning and Resources,Research and Professional Practices,Graduation Outcomes,Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception
SIBM Pune did not participate in the raking, as it was decided that Symbiosis will participate in the ranking as a University, hence SIU participated in the NIRF ranking 2017.
As a University it is important to focus on Research and Creating knowledge and this is accepted by all.
I was pondering about the most important aspect that a parent or an aspirant considers when he/ she chooses a University.
All of us would agree that it is PLACEMENT and specifically the ‘PACKAGE’ that a student gets after completing the programme, becomes the vital aspect considered (especially at the post graduate level) when the decision to choose a University in India is taken by an aspirant / parent.
Hence, I fetched the the data from the NIRF site by choosing the overall ranking for 2017 and created the following table. I gave ranking for institutions based on the Median Average salary secured by the student.

It can be seen that Symbiosis International University is the ONLY PRIVATE University in the TOP ten, when only Median salary of 2 YR POST GRADUATE STUDENTS in taken into consideration.

The day is not far when we emerge in the top ten by considering all parameters as well, as SIU has started focusing on Research (which is given 30% weight in the NIRF ranking)
